Buyback price : Rp. 948.000/gram (+2.000)

Update on Pawnshop LM prices : August 3, 2023

Today's selling prices for gold have uniformly increased by Rp2,000. The buyback price has also risen by Rp2,000 to Rp948,000 per gram.

Spot gold prices closed around US$1,933.74 per troy ounce. Movement has been barely noticeable, with a slight increase of only 0.009%. This small rise, while minimal, has at least alleviated some pressure on gold prices, which had previously experienced a sharp decline over the past two days, with a drop of 1.56%. Despite this slight recovery, gold prices remain at their lowest levels in the past three weeks.

The stagnation in gold prices is attributed to a wait-and-see attitude among market players who are anticipating unemployment data. On Thursday (August 3, 2023), the U.S. Department of Labor reported a slight increase in the number of American workers filing new claims for unemployment benefits in the previous week.

Unemployment claims for the week ending July 30 reached 227,000, an increase of 6,000 claims from the previous week’s total of 221,000 claims. Additionally, other data from the Department of Labor indicated a sharp decline in labor costs in the second quarter of 2023, due to a significant increase in worker productivity.
