In every matter related to government, there will certainly be institutions that are responsible for every problem that will be experienced in the field. In the capital market, it is the same, there are also institutions that regulate and solve problems from the capital market itself. One of them is KSEI or an abbreviation for PT Kustodian Sentral Efek Indonesia.

KSEI is a Depository and Settlement (LPP) institution in the Indonesian capital market. KSEI is tasked with providing orderly, reasonable, and efficient custody and securities custody services as written in Law No. 8 of 1995 which discusses the Capital Market. KSEI began to be established in Jakarta on December 23, 1997 with a year later on November 11, 1998 obtaining a business license. To find out more about this KSEI, you can read the following article. But before that, you can fill out the Trader Assessment to consult with GIC about the trade that is being done.

KSEI Is?

As explained above, KSEI stands for PT. The Indonesian Central Securities Depository which is a Depository and Settlement (LPP) institution in the Indonesian capital market. KSEI is in charge of providing custodial services where the meaning of custodian itself is a term used to describe the provider of securities custody services and other related assets.

Therefore, the task of a custodian is risky, complicated, and requires a lot of funds, which makes it only owned by certain entities that can provide custodial services. These entities must be financially secure, have a large space, and include a high level of security. At a glance about this custodian, when you save any type of account, later the check will be able to be used for payment transactions and stored directly in this custodian.

The custodian will record a reference in the form of the customer's account number, which then the custodian will send regular notifications about the account so that you know what assets are being held by them. It should also be noted that this custodial financial institution imposes a service fee in protecting customer assets. KSEI represents the customer's or investor's account by arranging transactions within the scope related to the intention of obtaining dividends and interest as its rights.

They monitor the position and mutation of securities they own in securities sub-accounts at KSEI. This facility is obtained through KSEI Account Holders (or in this case securities companies) at the place where the registered investor is a customer. This will not be charged to both investors and KSEI account holders. Every investor has the right to obtain a means of accessing information through this internet network.

Please note, this institution has been registered as a self-regulatory organization (SRO), KSEI has co-existed with other institutions that you may already know about, such as the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) and the Indonesian Securities Guarantee Clearing House (KPEI). KSEI has a regulation that they have issued, namely SID. This SID stands for Single Investor Identification as a unique identification number for its investors. This identity number will be required if you want to invest in the Indonesian Capital Market. After knowing KSEI itself, take the time to download the application of GIC Mobile on your Smartphone on the App Store or Play Store.

How to Access KSEI

As previously explained, KSEI has a product or facility called AKSes KSEI which is a service in the form of access to information for investors to monitor the position and mutation of securities they own in securities sub-accounts at KSEI. To access your account at KSEI, you can enter their official page on https://akses.ksei.co.id/. In addition, there is a way of working from KSEI itself. To understand this, what you must understand for the first time is the flow of stock management itself such as:
  1. Opening a securities account. When registering with a broker, the broker will open a securities account so that you can invest in it.
  2. The next thing to do is to open a sub-account and RDN. To make your first stock transaction, a sub-account and an RDN will be very necessary so this is mandatory to do. Each customer has a SID and SDN that cannot be used by others.
  3. Ownership of funds and shares to be obtained. Matters related to fund ownership and transactions are mutated through the investor's personal RDN. Meanwhile, share ownership and other securities are stored in sub-accounts. For those of you who don't know, this sub-account is the personal property of the investor himself without any connection with the broker anymore. And if something unexpected happens, such as a broker going bankrupt or going out of business, then the stocks you bought won't be lost.
