The daily forex analysis on January 15, 2021 will discuss the Australian Dollar which strengthened in trading last Thursday, supported by the good release of China's trade balance data, plus the weakening of the US Dollar after Fed Governor Jerome Powell's speech. However, the Aussie's strengthening against the US dollar is limited. The greenback weakened against several other major currencies, as a result of Federal Reserve Governor Jerome Powell's statement, which signaled that it would not raise the US benchmark interest rate in the near future. In addition, the plan to increase the number of stimulus programs announced by US President-elect Joe Biden worth $1.9 trillion, including cash assistance, also weakened the US Dollar. Although the views and opinions of many analysts expect the Greenback to continue weakening by almost 7% last year when compared to other major currencies. This is because the global economy is expected to recover from the pandemic. On the one hand, there are growing concerns in the market that the increase in bond yields will limit the weakening of the US Dollar. Jerome Powell said in a direct interview with a professor at Princeton University that the U.S. economy is still far from what the Fed expects, and he also said there is no factor that can change his statement or his very accommodative policy "until the effects of this pandemic are completely gone and completely resolved."
